Designer's Home
The owner wanted to preserve the character of the “Mid-C” residence built in 1952 which had never been updated. To make the home fit the needs of the mother and single daughter, both with demanding professions requiring in-home entertaining of groups from 8 to 36 guests inside as well as up to 110 guests outside would mean opening-up spaces, taking advantage of every square inch, using small scale flexible furnishings, simplifying streamlined backgrounds and colors for maximum visual impact, and carefully planning space to allow flexibility and traffic control. And of course, it must be stylish and artsy, and totally dog friendly for their 2 hounds. All white backgrounds, friendly white furnishings in washable vinyl or leather, and vintage modern furniture provide the perfect backdrop for pops of exciting color, and an amazing contemporary art collection. So much visual excitement in so little space!
