Park Cities
An under-utilized third floor room chopped up with odd gabled walls presented a challenge to Mary Anne Smiley. The client wanted a fun space for teen-agers to hang out, watch tv, and play video games with furniture as comfortable as bean bags, but way more upscale and practical. Strategic space planning by the designer included a soft “baggy” style sectional in a very forgiving upholstery, a custom lacquered coffee table with a removable quilted street art printed fabric for protection, and sleek side tables of turquoise lacquer with acrylic ends for visual conservation of space and exciting use of color.
Replacing an obsolete built-in TV cabinet with a wall hung lacquered console with TV above, proportionately in keeping with the limited space available brought order and style to this awkward space. A custom gaming desk for desktop gaming was built to accommodate 3 gamers in a complementary bright lacquer finish with acrylic touches, and back-lit with color changing LED lighting. Let the games begin!
